The region strip, styled

DECIDED · D-g-4 Option C 2026-08-25
The decided indicator for a region whose help is hidden, drawn in the product design language for styling confirmation; the pick itself is not reopened here.
Annotation · what is decided, what this page addsD-g-4 (2026-08-25) decided the indicator for a hidden help REGION: a one-line collapsed strip with a count, rendering exactly where the help content would appear. That property is the point of the pick: the click target is exactly where the content appears, so revealing never moves the user's eye. The label word is decided the same day: "Help", never "Guidance", in user-facing copy. This page only styles the decided strip. In I1 users see help shown by default, so this strip is reachable only in the QA harness; it reaches users with the post-I1 density preference. The per-slot reveal interaction is a separate open decision on page 02.
1 · Collapsed · resting and hover
Resting
Help hidden (2)
Hover · slightly darker
Help hidden (2)
A full-width thin strip in quiet gray, one line tall. The count counts the help items hidden in this region. The lower drawing freezes the hover state; on this page the upper strip also darkens on a real hover.
2 · Single item variant
Resting · one help item in the region
Help hidden (1)
Same strip, count of one. The wording does not change with the count; the number carries the difference.
3 · Expanded
After clicking the strip
Hide help
Where these rows goEach row becomes one line in the energy section of the assembled report, grouped by source.
Why we ask for the source unitConversions are done centrally with audited factors, so every figure stays traceable to the meter or invoice.
The strip flips to "Hide help" with the chevron rotated, and the help items render below it in normal help styling, exactly where the strip stood. Clicking again collapses back to "Help hidden (2)".
4 · In context at 50 percent scale · EXHIBIT ONLY where simplified
GRI 302-1 (a) Energy used at this site, by source Table, one row per source Required by this edition answered 2 rows
Composed help (placeholder)List every energy source the site drew on during the reporting period, one row each. Enter the quantity as your meters or invoices recorded it and choose the matching unit; do not convert between units here.
Annotationnever hides: composed per-clause help is functional by fiat (spec 7.4) and renders identically in both densities, so no strip ever stands in for it
Energy source*Quantity*Unit*
Diesel, stationary generators4,820GJ
Grid electricity, purchased12,640MWh
Help hidden (2)
Annotationthe strip renders exactly where the two hidden help items would appear, below the table in this region
EXHIBIT ONLY simplifications: the entry region is a reduced fragment of the table-answer entry surface (gri-catalog-admin, data entry, table answer) with the app shell, the entry tabs, the omission lane, and two of the metadata chips omitted so the proportions of the strip against a real region read at a glance. Demo helper: clicking the strip in this drawing toggles the reveal so the flip can be felt; the toggle is a wireframe aid, not part of the styling under confirmation.
Annotation · the strip's contractThree properties, restated as binding: the count counts the help items hidden in the region, nothing else. The strip renders exactly where the help content would render, so the click target is exactly where the content appears (the reason this option was picked). And composed per-clause help never collapses (the never-hide rule, spec 7.4): refusals, warnings, validation, and state reports are functional and render identically in both densities, so the strip only ever hides explanatory help, never functional content. A region with zero hidden help items renders no strip at all.
